Dana's Journey

Do you ever wonder where you would have been now if you had made a certain decision differently? Would you be married? Have kids? Be single?

I joined facebook a week ago or so and have been addicted to it since. The funny thing though is that Curtis contacted me. We didn't talk for ages because he got married and had 2 kids. I mean I wonder what would have happened if I had stayed with him and not with stupid (Matt).

Would I be married? Probably.. Kids.. Probably. I shouldn't have let him go, but what will be will be. I would like to reconnect with him to talk and catch up on what we've each been doing in our lives.

Hmmmm if only I had made the decision to be with him and not Matt.....

Some people sure do NOT know how to act their age. Of course, I am talking about Kristine (aka "the bitch") Where do I start? I basically ignore her at work and I think she gets annoyed because I am not paying attention to immaturity. Yesterday, one of my co-workers had just left for lunch and had a call come in for him. Since the girl on the switchboard is new, I picked up the phone and answered "Hello, Dana speaking, Michael has just stepped out, could I take a message?"

Does anyone see a problem with this? I didn't and neither did Carolyn (my supervisor). Anyways, Kristine MSN's me and says, "k- Dana just picked up Michael's phone..." I don't think she meant to send it to me. Then after I got back to my desk after asking Carolyn something, there was a message on my MSN and Kristine was asking me "why did you pick up Michael's call blah blah...?" Then she "nudged" me on MSN trying to get my attention. I just ignored her.

She is not worth my time. Then today, when I came into work, Linda (payroll lady) freaked out on me and said "You have been late everyday this week (I am MAYBE 5 mins late) and then you go for a break? The rest of us are on time, why can't you be?" I'm like, "uh I was just getting a diet coke."

Carolyn overheard Linda freak out on me and I went over to talk to her for a sec. She just said that people complain that I am late (it's because I am new), and I just need to make sure I am on time. Then of course, I ignored Kristine for the rest of the day. I have no idea what her BITCHY problem is, but it is her problem, not mine.

I was asking Linda a question regarding a discount on something and she snaps back at me on MSN "Look at the friggen invoice - I don't have time for this.." FUCK people piss me off. You know what though, they are NOT going to scare me away. When they realize that I don't give a fuck, they will piss off.

I spoke with Carolyn at the end of the day and said, "I understand that sometimes I am late.." Anyways, she was very understanding and said that this would not affect the way I did my job or threaten it. She's great. I don't really care what other people think.

It's just annoying when people who are in their 20's and 30's act like friggen 4 year olds!!

I guess I should start this story from the beginning.

When I started at WesClean, everything was going great and still is, except for one thing. Christine (I think she is in her mid 20's to late 20's)... When I first started, Christine and I seemed to get along great, we played poker on the lunch hour, went for Timmy's, it was great. However, when Michelle (the girl who trained me) went on holidays for 3 days because she was moving, I was asking Christine questions and at first, she was okay with it.

Then one day, she MSN'd me and said that I shouldn't be asking her questions and if I didn't know how to use AIMS (the accounting program), I should be trying to figure it out myself. I didn't snap back at her at all. All I said was "okay" and I left it at that. This seems to have been the turning point. For the last couple weeks, she has been snotty to me, ignoring me (which I am fine with), but giving me one word answers. I have no friggin idea what I did to piss her off, but I don't care.

Anyways, there is this other girl there, Sue, who is very close with Christine and is very much into gossiping as well. I've gotten over Sue's cattiness because well whatever, I'm used to it. A lot of the times, Christine would call people over to her desk (she sits kitty-corner to me on the other side of the divider)and would start typing stuff in a document so that I couldn't directly hear her talking about me. First off, that is fricken rude! If you have a problem, come to me and don't gossip behind my back. IMMATURE!!

Then today, the payables department was going to go to Julio's Bario for lunch to celebrate Michelle's and Pat's (another lady that works there) birthday. I spoke with Carolyn (my supervisor) and said that the last time I went to Julio's, they added an automatic gratuity to the bill. Christine said that she was going to call Julio's and find out whether they could give us separate bills, but they don't do that. Anyways, before she called Julio's, I was in the printer room (which is near Christine's desk) and I was talking with Maureen (who is our tech-gal)about Julio's.

I mentioned that Christine was going to call and find out about the gratuity and if it was the case that they tack it on, we might end up going to the Olive Garden instead. I don't see anything wrong with that conversation. When Maureen and I were walking back to our desks, Christine comes stomping over to me and says, "I would appreciate it if you would not be telling people about this until I find out." I'm like "What the f***!?" I didn't say that out loud. I said, "umm okay." Then I went back to my desk. Sure enough Sue comes by and Christine and her storm off to the smoking lounge probably to bad-mouth me. I mean COME ON!!! How IMMATURE are you!?

Then when she came back from the smoking room with Sue, she goes into Linda's office (she does payroll), closes the door and I'm sure she was badmouthing me to Linda. Then she comes out of Linda's office and goes directly to Michelles. She closes the door, closes the blinds and I am POSITIVE she was badmouthing me there to. What is she LIKE 5!!!???

I was fed up! I went and spoke with Carolyn a second time about Christine's behaviour and how she was making my environment very hostile. Carolyn was at a loss for words. I spoke with Carolyn yesterday as well about the hostility I was feeling. She does not want me to feel like I can not work for the company anymore. I told her that I didn't want her speaking with Christine as she would know that it was me who went to her, but if she heard Christine badmouthing me, she would say something to her.

Anyways, at the end of the day, I went and spoke with Carolyn again. She told me that she had overheard Christine saying that "Dana wanted to change the place we were eating." Uhhh where did she ever get that idea from!? I was just mentioning that Julio's add's a large gratuity to the bill. I don't know what time she said this at, whether it was before lunch or after.

I have come to the realization that Christine is immature and very insecure about herself that she thinks she is making friends by gossiping about others. She is acting like a child and if she wants to be immature, then whatever! I don't care, let her be stupid. She is a bigger gal and I think that she is probably very insecure with herself and maybe a little threatened by myself.

I WISH SHE WOULD GROW UP AND ACT HER AGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a month and a half since Murphy went to heaven. It really feels like it's been so much longer, but the pain is still so fresh. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her and tear up. I miss her so much, but I know that I will see her again.

I've been at WesClean for just over a month and I love it there. I don't care if people are two-faced or gossipers. It's only 2 people in the office and you know what, they can be immature if they want. It just shows that I am more mature than them.

I'd update more, except I am tired.

My livejournal nick sures seems to prove right time after time. I thought that this girl at WesClean, Kristine, was my friend, but she is rather two-faced. There's this other chick that works there, Susan, who is the office chick who talks behind your back. She never did like me from the start (surprise surprise). They never seem to if you're to nice. Anyways, apparantly I am asking to many questions to Kristine and she didn't have the decency to ask me to maybe speak with Carolyn (my boss) or Michelle (my trainer).

Instead, she asks Susan to come over to her desk, read something on her screen. I heard Susan laugh. Then 2 seconds later, I get this MSN message saying that I should be familiar with AIMS (the inhouse accounting system). Hello, I have only been there 3 weeks!!!

The MSN message basically says that if I don't try things for myself, I will never learn. Blah blah blah. Yeah well I'm through with that. I will not be asking her any more questions. I understand she is probably getting frustrated, but you know what, bring it up with me and don't be talking about me behind my back to Susan. Susan is in her 30s and Kristine is probably late 20s.

Carolyn asked me today how things were going and I said they were going well. She says she has heard good comments about how things are going and that she thinks I am doing well as well. I guess I have to understand that I am doing good and people will bitch. There will always be the one in the office that is the gossip.
